Theatre Illustration
From 2008 to 2015 I created a set of illustrations to market the summer season of plays produced by The Barnstormers Theatre in Tamworth, New Hampshire. These illustrations were used in the season brochure, on the marketing poster, the website and other places. Over the years I have experimented with different techniques and aesthetics. 8 shows in 8 weeks was the motto since the beginning, until 2015 when The Barnstormers broke with their tradition and performed only 6 plays.
2008
I made all the pics the same size and style. The titles were written in the same font. Uniformity was the name of the game. Pen and ink and Photoshop.

2010
This year I tried incorporating the titles into the pictures, just as I would for a theatre poster. Still some hand drawing and painting, but Photoshop begins to figure more prominently.

2011
In 2011 I separated the titles from the illustrations again. Scanned drawings and Photoshop, mostly. A bit of painting . . .

2012
In 2012 I returned to the square shape, including both title and author. This time I made an effort to make the illustrations as different from each other as the plays are. By now I use Photoshop with abandon, I'm afraid, though I still draw by hand. Big River was done in Illustrator.

2013
As in 2012, in 2013 I made what amounts to mini-posters, with both title and author included.

2014
More mini-posters, with both title and author included.

2015
Pretty much all photo collage here. I made the cartoon people in Relatively Speaking, but everything else is a found and transformed object.
